Study Guide Review

Kaplan’s GMAT Math Foundations aims to help test-takers who struggle with the GMAT’s Quantitative section build a solid foundation in arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.

Within these three main sections, each chapter is dedicated to a specific sub-topic and provides detailed explanations, examples, and tips and tricks on how to tackle the various problems. Moreover, each chapter – arranged from basic skills to more challenging levels of difficulty – ends with a brief summary and review, followed by a shorter test to assess how well the reader has learned the material.

The following topics are covered:

  • Properties of numbers
  • Integers
  • Fractions and decimals
  • Ratios and proportions
  • Percents
  • Statistics and probability
  • Powers and roots
  • Lines, angles, polygons
  • Circles, irregular figures, and solids
  • Coordinate geometry
  • Algebra
  • Equations

The book ends with a final chapter containing a cumulative test. This test covers all of the topics that are discussed in the book in order to provide additional review and practice.

Kaplan GMAT Math Foundations is suitable for those looking for a refresher course on basic math principles. However, test-takers in need of a more advanced GMAT Quant book should look into Kaplan’s GMAT Math Workbook (which is still at an intermediate level) or alternative GMAT study guides such as Manhattan’s Advanced GMAT Quant, which we recommend as one of the top 10 GMAT guides.
